Ireland is a country of dog lovers, that’s for sure. But we are in the middle of a canine crisis right now, with more and more dogs being neglected and abandoned every day. That’s why we’re launching Ireland’s Dog Census.

Why we need this census

We need Ireland’s Dog Census to be the biggest nationwide survey about dog welfare. And we’re undertaking it because the crisis we’re facing is massive. Just last year, we received a record 4,000 requests from dog owners who were looking to give up their dogs.

There are many reasons for this with loving owners being forced to give up their best friends because they can’t afford to keep them, can’t find suitable accommodation or are struggling with behaviour issues.

It’s heartbreaking for dogs and their owners, and we need a nationwide response if we’re to deal with this ongoing canine crisis.

By taking part in Ireland’s Dog Census, and telling us what you know about dogs, you’ll help us get a clearer picture of what the nation’s pooches need to live their best life.

Whether you’re a dog owner, or a dog lover, you can help. Your knowledge, thoughts and opinions matter. So, take part today and help give Ireland’s dogs the love they deserve.

Can you chip in a few Euros for dog biscuits?

All donations will be used where they are needed most. That means providing life-saving care and forever homes – which might include food for hungry dogs.
