To us, itʼs much more than a command. 

Dogs rely on the people they trust to come back for them, care for them and be there when they need them.  

For Wren and her six, four-week-old puppies, that promise was broken.  

The one-year-old Terrier cross and her puppies were found abandoned in an apartment, where they were left alone for two weeks.  

Thankfully, a concerned neighbour raised the alarm and the relevant authorities were able to rescue the dogs before they were brought into our care.  

While Wren’s puppies quickly found loving homes, the experience had taken its toll on her. She struggled with anxiety and needed additional time, patience and specialist care to help her feel safe and build her confidence again.  

Fortunately, Wren eventually came out of her shell and has since found a loving home of her own.  

As we’ve always said, a dog is for life, not just for Christmas. It’s why we never put a healthy dog down. And that’s why we’re here to give dogs like Wren a place to stay for as long as it takes.  

But we can’t do that without you. 

The cruelty of abandonment must stop. You can help us give more dogs a safe and warm place to stay this Christmas.
